Glasses warranty and repairs: what is covered
Frames at Blurkart carry a one year warranty against manufacturing defects such as a hinge failing under normal use or a coating peeling. Accidental damage, scratches from wiping a dry lens and normal wear are not covered anywhere. Adjustments, nose pads and temple tips are free regardless of where you bought the frame.

Most glasses warranty arguments in an optical shop happen because nobody explained the difference between a defect and damage before the sale. So here it is in advance.
What the glasses warranty in Nepal actually covers
Frames from Blurkart carry a one year manufacturer warranty against defects. A defect is the frame failing at something it should have survived. A hinge that works loose and then snaps under normal opening and closing. A temple arm that cracks where it was moulded. Plating that lifts off a metal frame in the first months. A lens coating that crazes into a web of fine lines or peels away from the lens on its own.
If any of that happens inside the year, bring it in. We replace it and we do not charge you.
What no warranty covers
Damage is different from a defect, and this is where expectations usually break.
Scratched lenses. The single most common claim and the one nobody covers. Scratches come from wiping a dry lens with a shirt hem, putting glasses face down on a table, or dropping them into a bag with keys. Kathmandu dust is gritty, and rubbing it across a coating is sandpaper on a small scale. Our guide to cleaning glasses without scratching them is genuinely the cheapest thing you can read here.
Sat on, stepped on, dropped. Accidental damage. We will repair what can be repaired and quote you first.
Missing screws and stretched arms. Normal wear. Also usually free to fix, just not as a warranty claim.
A prescription that changed. Not a fault in the glasses. Your eyes moved.
What we do free, forever, regardless
This part is not a warranty and has no time limit. Bring any pair of glasses to either showroom and we will straighten a bent frame, tighten hinges, replace nose pads and temple tips, and clean them properly in the ultrasonic. Frames bought somewhere else included. We do not ask for a bill and we do not charge.
The reason is simple. A frame that slips down your nose all day makes you look through the wrong part of the lens, and then people blame the prescription. Five minutes of adjustment prevents a lot of that. If yours keeps sliding, the bridge is usually the cause.
Lenses are their own conversation
A lens with your prescription in it is cut to your numbers and to that frame, which is why it cannot be returned once it is made. What it can be is rechecked. If a new pair genuinely does not feel right after the first week of adjustment, come back and we will recheck the power and the fitting height rather than tell you to persevere. Our guide to fit problems and the note on the first week in choosing between single vision and progressives cover the normal settling-in period, which is real and usually short.
How to make a claim go smoothly
Keep the bill, or at least the order number. It establishes the date, and a warranty is a time-bound promise. Bring the glasses in rather than sending photos, because a hinge failure and a hinge that was forced look different in the hand and identical on a phone screen.
Come to either showroom, Pulchowk in Lalitpur or Boudha in Kathmandu, and we will look at it while you wait. If it is a defect we say so and replace it. If it is damage we say that too, and we tell you the repair cost before we start rather than after. You can also return unworn frames in their original packaging within 7 days of delivery if you simply changed your mind, and frames can be exchanged at any point before the lenses are cut. Browse frames from NPR 999 if you decide it is time for a second pair instead.
Making a frame last past the warranty
Warranty is the floor, not the plan. Two habits do more for a frame's life than any guarantee. Take glasses off with both hands rather than pulling from one arm, which is what stretches a frame out of shape and loosens hinges. And put them in the case rather than face down, because every scratch on a lens started with a surface. Our guide to caring for your glasses covers the rest.
Frequently asked
- Are scratched lenses covered by warranty?
- No, and no shop in Nepal covers them. Scratches come from cleaning a dry lens or putting glasses face down, which is handling rather than a fault in the lens. A coating that peels or crazes on its own is different and is covered.
- Do you repair glasses bought somewhere else?
- Yes. Adjustments, nose pads and temple tips are free at either showroom whether you bought the frame from us or not. Parts that have to be ordered are charged at cost.
- Chasma bigriyo bhane free ma banaune ki paisa lagchha?
- Adjustment, nose pad ra temple tip free chha, jahaan kineko bhaye pani. A manufacturing defect inside the first year is replaced free. Accidental damage is charged, and we tell you the cost before we touch it.
