Contact lenses are medical devices rather than accessories, and that changes how you should buy them. A glasses prescription on its own is not enough, because a lens also needs a base curve and a diameter measured against your eye. Monthly lenses start at NPR 1,100 for a six lens pack and dailies at NPR 3,900 for thirty two. Which is cheaper depends entirely on how often you wear them: dailies suit occasional use and dusty commutes because there is no solution or case to manage, while monthlies cost less if you wear lenses most days. Most problems we see come from hygiene, not from the lenses. Never top up old solution, never rinse with tap water, do not sleep in lenses that are not made for it, and replace the case every month. Kathmandu's dry season makes eyes drier than people expect, so a wetting drop is worth keeping in your bag.
"Contact lens lagayera aankha bigrincha ki?" Not if it is fitted and cared for properly. Every lens wearer should still own a working pair of glasses for sick days and dusty days. If your eye is red and painful, take the lens out and see an eye doctor rather than waiting.

Yes. All prescription contact lenses (correction power, toric for astigmatism, multifocal) require a valid prescription specifying your power (SPH), base curve (BC), and diameter (DIA). Coloured lenses with zero power (cosmetic lenses) do not require a prescription but we still recommend a professional fitting to ensure correct base curve and diameter for your eye.

Unbranded or cosmetic-only lenses from unauthorized sources carry infection risks. Always verify the base curve matches your eye before purchasing.
How long do monthly contact lenses last?+
Monthly soft contact lenses are designed for 30 consecutive days of use or 30 wearing sessions - whichever comes first. After 30 days the lens material degrades regardless of how often you wore them, increasing infection risk. Always replace on schedule and store in fresh lens solution when not wearing.
